[ after everything happened with the nemeton, when it was finally over (in a sense), lydia stayed a little longer with aiden at deaton's clinic until he was strong enough to get back on his feet. she learned everyone else made it out okay via jumbled text from stiles (it makes her wonder if he's actually fine). from there, it was a series of awkward excuses to her mother — she didn't realized it had been over 24 hours since she'd been home until she stepped through the door. she came back in one piece, so not too many questions were asked.

she finds herself at allison's house over the next few days. even though each of the parents had to get checked out at beacon hills memorial, it doesn't take long before they're all settling back into school and remembering they actually have lives outside of this supernatural circus. (when was the last time she was even over here?)

lydia's made herself comfortable on the edge of allison's bed, making small talk about an assignment in class and that new shirt she likes. the little normal things they haven't had a chance to talk about lately. ]

Wow. I almost forgot that it was possible to have a conversation that doesn't start with werewolves and end in Darach.

[ despite it still being on their minds and been hardly touched on since it all went down. ]
